Never forget these

Sidney's 10 golden rules

The things I try to remember in every single game.

  1. Warm up your hands and legs before you touch a ball.
  2. Get set before every shot — small steps, never flat-footed.
  3. Make a W with your thumbs for high balls, hands low for low balls.
  4. Watch the ball all the way into your hands.
  5. Catch it if you can, parry wide if you can't.
  6. Talk! You can see the whole pitch, so organise your defence.
  7. Be brave, but be sensible — protect your head and body.
  8. Start the attack: a good throw or pass is as good as a save.
  9. Forget the last goal. The next save is the important one.
  10. Have fun — the best keepers love being in goal.

⚠️ Stay safe

Always train on grass or a soft surface, wear gloves, warm up first, and have an adult around when you're diving or doing shooting drills.
